Built Right. Built Local. Built to Last.
Our History
In Iowa, your name means something. It’s more than a label on a truck or a sign in the yard — It becomes your promise. At Magee Construction, we’ve spent over 40 years living up to that name.

Magee Construction Company
Founded in 1982 by Wayne Magee, a 4th-generation builder, ironworker and U.S. Army veteran, this company was born the way Iowans do things — with grit, pride, and a deep respect for honest work. When times got tough at John Deere, Wayne rolled up his sleeves and started building to support his family. What began as just a way to survive, became a business that families across the Cedar Valley now trust with their homes and businesses.
Today, Magee Construction is known for high-quality new home construction, kitchen, bathroom, basement, and whole-home remodeling, along with roofing, additions, fire and water restoration, and outdoor living spaces. We also handle commercial and industrial construction with the same care and integrity.
But what really sets us apart?
We’re not just builders.
We’re Iowans.
And we treat every project like we’re building it for our neighbor — because chances are, that may be true.
Our Name Is on the House for the Life of the House
That’s more than a slogan. It’s a belief passed down from Wayne’s grandfather, Earl “Pete” Magee, who once refused to use flood-stained lumber in a home he was building — even though the customer owned the lumberyard. Pete said:
“You might own the house, but my name is on it — and I won’t use anything I wouldn’t be proud to stand behind. In the future, people may forget you owned this home, but they will always know who built it.”
That’s the kind of pride and principle that still drives us today.
